The Wallsend Memorial Hall

At the Heart of Community Life in Wallsend

Based right in the heart of Wallsend, The Wallsend Memorial Hall and People's Centre is a charity dedicated to providing social, cultural and educational opportunities for residents of Wallsend and beyond.

We have a variety of function rooms and serviced offices for hire, with sizes ranging from small offices for one or two people through to our ballroom which holds up to 900 people standing.

We hold regular community events, such as our weekly tea dance.

To contact us to talk about booking a room at The Mem, email us at info@wallsendmem.co.uk or give us a call on 0191 263 4852.

In 2012, to mark the re-opening of the hall after the revamp, singer and composer Katie Doherty drew on decades of people’s dancing memories at the hall for her song Heartbeat Ballroom, which you can hear (and watch) here.

My friends and I used to love going to the dances at The Mem in the late 1950's and early 1960's! We were there every week and had such good times. We didn't meet our future husbands there but I remember my best friend and I had a crush on the same lad but neither of us ever got a dance with him other than during the 'Bradford Barn' dance! - Andrea Pretli
